CCC BBQ

Cleethorpes Camera ClubPosted by Peter Warrington Mon, August 09, 2010 10:50:08
Saturday 31st July saw Alan hold a Barbecue at his house to raise funds for the Freehold Fund. The weather was kind, and everyone enjoyed themselves, although it was a very eventful afternoon, with a couple of people taking a tumble.

We even had our own Airshow, as it was the same day as Cleethorpes Carnival, so we were entertained by the Mustang going through its routine on the sea front. After all that we raised £105 for the Fund.

A Word In Your Ear - It's a Wrap

Cleethorpes Camera ClubPosted by Peter Warrington Mon, August 09, 2010 10:44:11
What a weekend, the weather was quite kind to us in order to complete the filming of this years club film "A Word In Your Ear". We had two days of re-shoots to do, and thankfully we have completed them successfully.

We started on Saturday out at Brian and Jenny's with a re-shoot of our first days shooting. We must know what we are doing now, we were finished by 4-00pm. This time we used two cameras, and our intrepid actors were well into their roles, and so the performances were better, and slicker. It did rain for some of the day, but as we were shooting indoors it didn't cause any problems.

Sunday saw us back at the Marina, and the weather was perfect, sunny skies and light winds. I would like to thank Simon for letting us use his yacht again, but this time we would be filming from only his yacht, so there was exxcess weight, which caused a few problem with manouvering at low speed, no we didn't throw Terry overboard. Steve the Director, kept coming up from the cabin for air as the diesel fumes caused him to feel a little unwell. Terry was camera operator on the bow, while I was shooting from the cabin entrance, before going on deck to get some different angles.

Then it was back on shore again. No wind problems this time. martin was on hand with his Boom Microphone. By 12-30pm we had finished, just in time for Sim0on to get back to work, he had been at work all night as well, so hadn't had any sleep, hope he didn't crash any Tankers.

A BIG thankyou to everyone who has been involved with this years film, especially Terry for putting up with all the mickey taking, and all the hours he has put in converting all the footage, getting it ready for editing, believe me he has probably spent more hours on this film than anyone else. Thanks to Steve Woollock and Iris for their time in rehearsing and putting in excellent performances in front of the camera. I don't want to forget Steve, our director on this film. He has put in a lot of time planning and preparing all the scenes for each days shooting. I just hope he still has a sense of humour, and a bit of sanity after this, it's been very trying at times, and he has only lost it on a few occassions, still he is a very nice man, thanks Steve.

So it's a WRAP. Well now it's down to the editing, which is already well advanced. More late nights for Steve the director, Terry and myself to get the film finished for September.
So thanks once again.

See you all soon.

A Word In Your Ear - Part 8

Cleethorpes Camera ClubPosted by Peter Warrington Sun, July 25, 2010 19:09:28
Well it's Sunday and another days filming is over, and another scene completed. It was a hot one again today, but we were filming outside, and there was a bit of a breeze. Again it was a closed set, with the minimum amount of people around to help. Can you tell from the photos where we were filming, probably not, although I can tell you it was a secret location in Rural Lincolnshire. Were we filming the Park scene???, you will have to wait and see. Look at the photos, there's even one of me.

Why is Terry stalking behind bushes? What is the significance of the Brick building? Why is Steve the Director being so nice to everyone? Perhaps its because we have nearly finished and he doesn't want to be left off their Christmas card list. We also finished the day off with a couple of shots back at Brian and Jenny's. Now it's back down to Terry to get a lot of shots encoded ready for editing, lots of sleepless nights Terry!!!

This ones short and sweet, but believe me it's not only tiring for the actors, lots of hanging around while shots are set up, and they have worked very hard to produce some excellent performances, it's also exhausting for the crew filming, and the Director trying to get what he wants. So please when you do see Steve again, take pity on him because believe me he's been through a lot, and put an awful lot of time and effort into the preparation and shooting of this years film. Thanks Steve.

The Invitation - Film Festival News

Cleethorpes Camera ClubPosted by Peter Warrington Sat, July 24, 2010 21:54:20
I know we are in the process of shooting this years club film, but what happens when it's finished, and been shown at Walkington. Well it will be entered in other Film Festivals around the country. Last years film "The Invitation" was entered into the IAC's Film Festival, the BIAFF, which it gained a 3 Star Award, getting some good comments fromt he judges, and also some strange comments to.

It was also entered into the Guernsey Lily International Film Festival, where we have just learned it has been judged as Highly Commended. The Guernsey Lily is held in Guernsey in October, and hopefully some members will be travelling there to represent the club, where the film will be shown, and also to pick up our award and judges comments.

So well done to all those involved in making "The Invitation", and lets hope this years film will do equally as well if not better. As you see it doesn't end with Walkington, that's just the beginning.

A Word In Your Ear - Part 7

Cleethorpes Camera ClubPosted by Peter Warrington Sat, July 24, 2010 21:37:56
Hi Everyone. Well we are coming close to the end of filming this years club film, " A Word In Your Ear". Only three more filming days to go. Today we were back at Tetney Lock, filming more inside shots, on day one of a two day shoot. Tomorrow we will be doing the outside shots to go with todays. Sorry I'm being a bit vague on this one, but it was a closed set day, and telling you what we were filming will give away too many secrets, don't want to spoil the film for you. needless to say Iris and Steve were on great form, working under difficult conditions, as it was a bit warm again, and got hotter as the day went on !!!!! here are a few more pics of todays filming, enjoy.

By the way Steve the Director is a very nice man, and was very nice to everyone all day, and I'm sorry if in previous blogs I have made him out to be a bit of an ogre, he's only like that during a full moon. As you can see from the photos he's quite relaxed and chilled, (you should see him in the the ones I haven't uploaded!!!!), just joking Steve haha. It was nice to have Margaret on set again, and Jenny was on hand to keep us well refreshed again. Martin was on hand again to man the second camera, and me, well I just made a nuisance of myself as usual, well I am the Producer, I'm allowed to.

As you can, or cannot see I haven't given much away. We did have a distraction in the form of Iris's new Poodle puppy. very cute, and got very spoilt by everyone. Sorry Sqeaky, your Dad took to her very quickly.

As I said, tomorrow is the outside shots, let's hope we have good weather. Two days filming for about 45 seconds footage in the film, that's not bad going! is it.
